🚀 How to Install Guard My Email

Installation from Google Workspace Marketplace

Visit the Google Workspace Marketplace

Go to the Google Workspace Marketplace and search for "Guard My Email"

Open Marketplace

Click "Install"

On the Guard My Email listing page, click the blue "Install" button

Review Permissions

You'll see a list of permissions the add-on needs:

  • Read email when you use the add-on
  • Access your email address
  • Connect to external services (Claude AI)

Click "Continue" to proceed

Grant Access

Choose your Gmail account and click "Allow" to grant the necessary permissions

Start Using Guard My Email

Installation complete! Now you can:

  • Open any email in Gmail
  • Look for the Guard My Email icon in the right sidebar
  • Click the icon to open the add-on
  • Click "Scan Now" to analyze the email

  1. Open Gmail and select any email

  1. Forward suspicious email to: scan@guardmyemail.com
  2. Wait 1-2 minutes for analysis

I installed the add-on but don't see the icon
Try these steps:
  • Refresh Gmail (press F5 or Cmd+R)
  • Check if the sidebar is collapsed - look for a small arrow
  • Try a different browser or incognito window
  • Reinstall the add-on from Workspace Marketplace
What permissions does Guard My Email need?
We only request essential permissions:
  • Read emails: Only when you click "Scan Now" - we analyze the email content
  • Your email address: To track your monthly scan quota
  • External service: To send emails to Claude AI for analysis

How accurate is the scam detection?
Guard My Email uses advanced AI (Claude by Anthropic) to analyze emails. While highly effective, no system is 100% accurate. Always use your own judgment and verify suspicious requests independently. See our Terms of Service for details.
I've used all my free scans. What now?
Free users get 5 scans per month. You can either:
  • Wait until next month (scans reset on the 1st)
  • Upgrade to Premium for unlimited scans at $4.99/month

How do I uninstall?
To remove Guard My Email:
  1. Gmail Settings → Add-ons tab
  2. Find "Guard My Email" under "Installed add-ons"
  3. Click "Manage" → "Remove"
Is my data secure?
Yes. We:
  • Never store email content
  • Use encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • Only analyze emails you specifically choose to scan
  • Don't share your data with third parties

Common Issues and Solutions

Error: "Authorization failed"
  1. Uninstall the add-on completely
  2. Clear your browser cache
  3. Reinstall from Workspace Marketplace
  4. Grant all requested permissions
Error: "Quota exceeded"
You've used all 5 free scans this month. Either wait until next month or upgrade to Premium for unlimited scans.
Scan taking too long / timing out
  • Very large emails may take longer to analyze
  • Try refreshing and scanning again
  • If persistent, forward the email to scan@guardmyemail.com instead
Not receiving forwarded scan results
  • Check your spam folder
  • Add scan@guardmyemail.com to your contacts
  • Wait up to 5 minutes for results
  • Verify you forwarded to scan@guardmyemail.com (not a typo)
